Hebe, Goddess of youth is the largest example of my technique for making digital 3d models physical. The inside is a correx armature, clad in hessian, and reinforced with wood dowels. The hessian is then covered in Bathstone jesmonite, creating a stone look that perfectly compliments the subject matter. The original 3D model was made availble by Scantheworld and is derived from a 3D scan of a sculpture at the Staten Museum of Art in Copenhagen. Completely waterproof and great for outdoor spaces, the way it is made means the sculpture is very light in comparison to a solid stone sculpture.
